El Dorado (2020 Onwards) 12-Year

More complexity and definitely a better sipper than the previous 12 year expression.
Caramel and toffee notes are present.

It surprises me that it took regulations to bring this to market. I've recently had their 8, 12 & 15yr old. The 12 stand out from them all. Right smack in the middle and the best of the the three. Lots of flavor like the 8yr and less bite with a tad more oak and a more realistic rum than the seemed to be watered down 15yr old. No need to try the 21yr old. That's just a cash grab at more than triple the price. Well done!

At first it's a bit harsh but if you give it some time it becomes well balanced. Great rum!

Not sweet, a lot of taste perfect rum for party evening

God klassisk Guyana rom, med en lidt bitter eftersmag. Meget tæt på et 8 tal.

Had 6cl of it after a better dinner at a local restaurant.
It’s long time ago since I tasted the old 12yo with 35gpl sugar, but I’m pretty sure I like this new one with 6gpl sugar better.
The aroma is oaky, spicy, pleasant and balanced with some sweetness.
In mouth and on palate it’s still spicy and I recognize toffee, raisins, prunes, caramel and nutmeg.
The finish is medium long and the wood comes back plus some vanilla.
Overall an pleasant well balanced rum with a certain complexity.

this is the new 2020 edition of the el dorado 12 yo with much less sugar added (approx. 6g/lit.) to meet the new EU regulations. and i guess it‘s now better then it was before, it‘s one of my favourite ones and it‘s a no brainer as it‘s quite cheap. really nice and smooth rum

Seriously a fantastic rum for the price. This is a sipper that is a great mixer for the price. Huge value with this rum - can't go wrong.
