Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

A sweet rum with some oak.

A crowd pleaser. This is where it all started for me some years ago.

Sweet on the palate with vanilla flavor. Almost cream soda like. Nice mouthfeel. Will definitely pick up a bottle.

må indrømme at de første par gange jeg smagte den var jeg ikke vild med den.
Men men men...... den vokser på mig og nu synes jeg den er ganske udemærket.
Men om den er så god som mange mener, det ved jeg ikke rigtig.

Tasty, goes down easy, and a less expensive premium rum. Good for everyday sipping.

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera is a decent rum. It is sweet/semi-sweet rum that smells and tastes of butterscotch, vanilla, cacao, and spice. Goes down easy, but lacks the complexity and strength of other top tier rums. It doesn't taste like a 23 year rum.

Flot lysebrun farve. Har en lækker rund smag af rørsukker med en lille spids af sprit. Rigtig god rom, som bør drikkes ren.

This was my entry into the world of dark rum. Would have rated it a 10 back then, but have since tried quite a few surpassing it. Still remains a sort of benchmark.

Denna Ron Zacapa var en favorit tidigare men det var innan jag provat andra. Den är inte så rund och mjuk i smaken som jag upplevt tidigare. Kan till och med upplevas lite spritig. Finns godare som dessutom är betydligt billigare.

One of the most reviewed rums out there, full of notes of smoothness and sweetness... well the bottle I tasted must have been spoiled because I did not feel the smoothness ( similar to a "normal" 12 year old rum ) and it was not so sweet in the existing notes.
Very over rated... but this is my Humble opinion ofcourse
