Originally named Bacardi Black, this rum is now called Bacardi Select. The recipe is the same, which consists of a blend of aged rums, charcoal-filtered once before resting for at least 4 years in American White Oak.

Well , I bought a 650 no, just to check on the new Bacardi black, really surprised me? It's so smooth and sweet, drank the entire bottle of rum . Love to buy it again and again, it's black, it's smooth, it's sweet and makes you feel perfect after the entire bottle of rum. Just wants everyone wants, to enjoy and drink, this is the best one

This really sucks. The taste after you drink it is horrible. I really don't like to drink this one, not even with a coke.

This is rum, that is born for cuba libre.
It means, that if you would not put lime and coke inside, you will not be satisfied.

With its dark colour I was expecting a more pronounced taste. It smells a bit the oak drum but has a medicine like after taste. It's good for mixing.

Don't take it seriously. If it is the only rum you have, pour a lot of cola to dampen the taste. That will be drinkable.
I really can't understand how all these bad reviews are coming about, I'm assuming they're written by novice rum drinkers who choke on anything . The smell of this stuff is not nice but it is very surprisingly tasty . very very easy to drink , good for mixing, even with a high rum to mixer ratio. Very prominent flavours of caramel, oak and fruit. Definately recommend .

Not a fan don't care yes it's smooth but nothing special.
"hint of plum/prune and a little hint of treacle..."
"Bacardi Black rum review by The Fat Rum Pirate"
More of a cane juice/agricole grassy note.
"There is a little hint of plum/prune and a little hint of treacle. Tastes quite bitter and too dry."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Definitely a mixing rum. Tried on own actually smoother than expected. A little sweet smell. Taste isn’t complex as expected thou taste not as bad as I expected from other reviews. Sipping rum it’s not but wouldn’t recommend. You get a licorice type note with a little dryness and some sweet. Ok overall
