Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

The sugar in it helps smooth it out and there's is a nice sweetness to it but it still tastes relatively young compared to other highly rated sweet rums like Diplomatico R.E. or El Dorado 15 yr. I suppose I expected it to be sweeter in the way of a Demerara rum but with a Bajan flair. Decent rum but not worth the price tag IMHO. Similar taste to Kaniche XO which is made by the same place and significantly cheaper if u can find it. Update: One of the most overrated/overpriced rums there is, itโs ok but definitely not great. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
