Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Sehr ausbalancierter weicher Rum mit vielen verschiedenen Noten. Tolle kräftige Farbe und ein wunderschönes Aroma.

Wow. Very strong apricot in the middle and I was getting hints of blackberry on the finish.
Each sip brings new flavour and it makes a wonderful addition to the cabinet.

Smooth, no excessive burn. Great as a sipper or with ice. Like liquid brown sugar, just beautiful for my pallete and the best I've tasted thus far.

One if my top 5 sipping rums. Very smooth with notes of molasses and banana. Please...never mix this beauty with ice
This pairs well with a Nica Libre Toro 1990 cigar. Just pour it over some ice and enjoy.

Nose is vanilla and tropic fruits... banana
Buttery Xmas spices on the palate with a lovely roasted finish that lingers. Sugared up the wazoo, but a guaranteed crowd pleaser

The bottle is a precious one, I really like it. But the content inside is even better. A very easy-to-drink rum with just the right amount of sweetness (and I do like sweet rums), vanilla (and more) taste and a long, great finish. Always worth a sip!
Out of all the rums I've tried, this has to be my favorite by far. Very smooth, not too many sweet tastes. Definitely a hint of vanilla on the palate and no harsh alcohol tastes. Definitely top of my "will buy again" list.

Excellent choice for a cold evening by a fire. Wonderfully full nose. On the body, slight sweetness and just a hint of oak. Not overly complex. Pleasant finish. Overall a nice experience.
I would say that this rum is the best, if you find a better , tell me.
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Well,
Plantation has easily the most consciousness marketing department that existed. All the way from the box to the bottle no corners were cut. I could write a mile long summary on that alone but that's not why we are here. Opening the bottle and sniffing it gives you a bunch of wonderful hints, first the cask then some coconut, spices (maybe cinnamon) and a very nice sugar smell. In the glass its a very dark amber, tasting it neat is a very warming rum, extremely well balanced. The coconut is a unique surprise that i'm not used to in aged rums and it makes a very nice addition to the collection. Noting its balanced you get hints of chocolate (probably dark chocolate), oak cask, alcohol, the coconut and vanilla. The coconut after taste lingers for a long time. In cola its good but not as good as straight up. Since its balanced the cola kills some of its unique hints, still very good however. I can see this bottle being a mega hit at a holiday party.
8.5 on rum and .5 bonus points on packaging/bottle.
