I could go on at length about this one, but what can be said that hasn’t already been said? Pure, powerful, perfect. Kaboom!
Lovely expression, can’t say enough good things: if you’re drinking this you’re doing something right.
Ya it’s smooth and rich
Everything a Demerara should be: irresistibly rich and smooth with dozens of complex subtleties... gonna take me a while to get to know it fully
Martinique Hors d'Age
Dry and very smooth agricole
Rhum agricole is a bit tough to find in my neck of the woods. This is one of the few I’ve tasted and yummmy smooth with a long pleasing finish.
Superb agricole blanc
Fantastic stuff: strong tropical fruit notes with a hefty dose of grassy cane. Sharp and refreshing!
Smith and Cross
My favourite mixing rum when bold is required. It’s bold.
Good good stuff
Can it compete with the trusty lemon hart 151? Yes! In fact, this is sippable... mind you, you’ll get messed right up...
Rhum Agricole Blanc
If you’re not an agricole fan, an unaged spirit like Neisson probably isn’t your jam. However, if you are an agricole fan then this is a fantastic cho
Excellent as a sub for curaçao in tiki drinks
Had this as part of a Rhum Clement product range sampler and was very impressed. The use of aged (I assume?) agricole as opposed to brandy adds a subt
Special Release Single Barrel
I had been skeptical that a rum from the mainland US of A could be a sipper -wrong! This is nice stuff with a faint aroma of pineapple and other tropi
Pure Single Jamaican Overproof
Good shit - funky
Very nice stuff and at 59-60* it’ll blow you away -mixed. Funky pot still stuff and lovingly packaged. However, with the price, I’d go with smith & cr
XO 20th Anniversary
Nose is vanilla and tropic fruits... banana Buttery Xmas spices on the palate with a lovely roasted finish that lingers. Sugared up the wazoo, but a
Tasty sipper; yummy mixer
Not an authentic Barbadian rum due to some heavy dosage post distillation. However, pop this for the non rum snob and they’ll beg for more
7 Golden Age
Lots going on
Versatile, but then that’s to be expected given the number of rums in the blend. Tamed hogo is predominant, but I find some oak, pepper, and stone fru
Classic history aside, it’s a rock solid poor: Painkillers yes, but a solid mixer with most.
A solid cachaca
Not just for the inevitable caipirinhas. Heavy cane and grass notes and a pretty thick taste. Will stand out in any mixed drink!
Pineapple Stiggin's Fancy
Benchmark flavoured rum
Not avail in BC Canada, but just come in fresh from HI. Tasty with pineapple in front almost to the cloying but immediately backs off into a more than
Nice sipper, solid
Nice aged Jamaican goes will with most anything. Rich and smooth, but it’s funk is toned down somewhat; it’s dry with a slight burn.
My current go to for spiced rum. You can tell they put love into this one! Warm vanilla and baking spices abound.
Wray & Nephew
Won’t drink a mai tai without it
It’s reputation is well deserved. 100% overburn hogo that will slap you hard.
The 12 year is a sweet intro to sipping rum. It’s sweet.
Never had a white quite like it
I’m very fond of this white rum as it brings the hogo it also a wide array of complex rum notes that totally surprised me for a white! Sippable on its
XO Extra Old
Fine example of Barbados rum
Dry and oaky, with a long finish and some kick - rock solid sipper
This is the last word, as far as I’m concerned, on commercially available 151s. Don’t fuck with it.
Sipping bliss from Haiti
This is very nice. I’d heard that the quality had dropped off due to the horror show the last decade+ has visited on Haiti, but I’m very impressed wit
Good, but a bit of a disappointment
Classic Jamaican sipper yes, but does it bring much more to the table than the Appleton 12???
I’d actually go 7.5, a fine representation
Disclaimer: I love Jamaican rums... you may or may not. This is the middle of the road Appleton mass market offering and it is a middle of the road. R
Nice rep of an unaged agrichole
Big vegetal funky aroma, clean grassy taste without too much sweet. Nice! Obviously works best in a ‘ti punch
It’s Bermuda’s own
A national institution and major export. How does Gosling’s stack up? Well, in fact it’s pretty versatile and is a must with ginger beer. Definitely n
Versatile and unfussy
Rich spice and smoky leather on the nose and then all smooth...
Middle of the road
I'm inexperienced with cachaca, but was suitably satisfied with this one's bones tasted in a caipirinha or two.
The overwhelming molasses kick makes it a rare use. However, it is smashing in a Cuba Libre or, of course, a Jungle Bird.
Flor de Cana
Extra Dry 4
Rock solid white
Grassy but firm white that works well in -surprise- anything seco.
Perfectly aromatic vanilla notes. A fine amber mixer, but in British Columbia overpriced.
A fine sipper
Nice and smooth, hints of coffee, toffee, and baking spice- yum!
Lighter body for an agricole, very nice to mix with -not just for ti punch!
Original Dark Double Aged
A solid swap for Pusser’s
Rich caramel and baking spice... is it sweetened with added sugar??? Regardless, it stands out in most any mix calling for a dark. Recommended.
Nice liqueur with a bite
Tasty stuff with sharp agricole notes and warm orange sweetnesses. Would sub it for any cocktails calling for curaçao or grand marnier
Nice aged agricole
Smooth, but with a oakiness to offset the grassy agricole punch. Dry, good sipper
Like rhum agricole? This one’s mild
Dry, but without the vegetal slap of most agricoles. Here in Canada it’s woefully overpriced so I’d warn off it unless you’re an agricole hound... if
Not the best agricole at 40*
Use when an agricole is called for in mai tai, etc. Decent ti punch
A fine Demerara
Quite nice, a shade below el dorado 12 but far up from the lemon hart 1804!
Alas no Bayou
I had hoped for more given the storied name, but no luck. Fair enough in a mix, fine with coke, happiest with ginger beer, but beyond that a let down
Cuban rums aren’t my preferred. However, Havana club is a decent mixer that I happily pawn off on guests for daiquiris and, of course, mojitos. Turns
A perfectly serviceable Jamaican expression for mixing. No it won’t slap you upside your head with hogo, but it’s quite nice in a modest way.
In the shadow, but mixes
Obviously not in the same league as it’s 151 brethren; the wonderful nose isn’t carried through. A wonderful expression of Demerara as a mixer however
Wel... it’s palatable with cola. In fact, it tastes like cola syrup. Spiced runs aren’t my thing, but even if they were, this’d be middle of the road
Palatable, with some qualities
Far from decent, but can stand in for virgin islands mixer I suppose... call me crazy, but it’s got the same profile to me!
Decent enough as a Jamaican mixer, but lord have mercy bumboclaat, there is so much better.
I resent the trash that is Bacardi, that said this is closer to tolerable then most of their bilge
Don’t drink this
This worthless boiled gutter piss is an offense to the spirit: if this is your rum of choice you have no business being on this site... or consuming a
