This was a pleasant surprise as I was expecting some more burn with the very high proof and lack of an age statement but a great sipping rum for those who like high proof.
Nose not bad for overproof. I put on ice and let it breathe. Not typical gasoline as expected and can be consumed as sipper but not recommended. Had Cuba libre and definitely way to go. It doesn’t have flavor like typical plantation. Overall ok. Prefer something with flavor. If looking for no real bite and extra alcohol mixer this is your drink
Use it in swizzles as a base rum with Fee falernum. "I'll drink to that" for some recipes. Beautiful to replace Smith & Cross, with an even higher proof. Blends are difficult to analyze, but his one seems to have the right ratios. Don't sip, mix it!
Raisin, and some.... more Raisin. If you like Raisin then this may be your rum. For everyone else, just skip this one. You could buy stroh rum just as well.
5/10 (I'm not into raisin as you might have guessed)
Cognac overtones wash through to vanilla, nougat aftertastes. Amazingly smooth, a definite sipper. Worth the cost to a T.
Dark, fruty and powerful rum.
Scent: coffee, orange, plums, jams and tryffles
Strong banana note, and the sweetness is tempered by a ridiculous amount of alcohol. Not bad at all
It’s very intense, almost sickly sweet.
"It’s a sweet yet almost bitter, molasses heavy nose."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Sipping: a little bit too strong, but considering the alcohol amount - it has a lot of flavour. It has a bit of fruity funk, fresh plum I would say. Just a bit too salty.
On the other hand it has some mid-dark notes also(not woody though, rather raisins, caramel), but it is not as dark or bitter like Pusser Navy.
Mix: blends very well, in natural way, it is 'average' rum- I don't feel anything unique about this rum compared to others (maybe the salty caramel), but it is very good.
If you don't mind strong rums, I would say this might be nice to entry point to understand the Jamaican Funk. If you prefer more mild, smooth rums, Appleton 12 Rare Blend might be better(I actually think OFTD has more so called fruity-funk).
Smith&Cross has much more funk and flavour, but I guess it is more love or hate, while this one might be pleasant for many.
Considering the price, it is one of the best rums imo.Oh, and I prefer this to Foursquare 2008, of course that can be a matter of my taste, but it is simply nicer.
