El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

At a stage I would of rated the the 12 better but after a few years drinking rums the 15 is top shelf there's brown sugar banana and a leathery tobacco taste that the 12 is missing
Though relatively new to the rum scene, I was disappointed in this particular rum. To me, it played more like a scotch than a rum. I tried it first with an ice cube, which, in my opinion was a mistake which served only to amplify the scotchlike qualities. Drinking neat after considerable air-time was a preferable experience, though still not outstanding. Along with it's distinctively scotchy smell, I could pick out some particular notes, primarily dried fruit (plum? date?). I taste the fruit and caramel, but the palate is overwhelmed quickly by a prominent alcoholic taste (not cheap alcohol, mind you) and an unexpected burn which persists at the front of the mouth and all the way down. I suppose some may find that charming, but I found the warmth spicy and artificial. (Did I mention that this reminds me of scotch?) The taste did not linger long and quickly gave way to dryness, which contrasted the full mouthfeel. For $44CAD on sale, I am not angry with the purchase, but it won't take centre stage and I might even mix it.
This stuff is delicious. Slightly sweeter than the 12 and probably not as smooth as the 21 but that's to be expected. This is better than pretty much every £100+ rum I've tried. Will come back to this time and time again.
This is a really solid choice and a good value, especially now that the added sugar content has been lowered (or possibly removed), but even though this is thicker, deeper and more robust than the 12, it's not as solid a value as it is slightly less sweet and interesting. For $15-20 less the 12 might be the better choice. N: deep sugary molasses, thick, solid. T/F: sweet but not too much so, deeper, thick again on the finish, mid spicy, with some oakiness.
Silnejsi rum jantarove barvy a plne chuti na konci prejde do drevite chuti po pouzitych sudech. Jeden z mich oblibenych rumu.
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...

Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I really like this one. But considering the price the El Dorado 12 is a little better.
