Purchased it when it was on a big discount. Figured out why! This stuff burns a bit too much. Surprisely, the distillery makes a gin and ages it in their rum barrels. That is fantastic and one of my favs.
Color:light brown
Nose:coffee,caramel
Body:acrid,wood,spicy
Tail:medium lasting, but tasty,
I would say slightly upper average rum, the acrid feeling I had from this rum is one of a kind.
Een heel mooi en lekker rum past goe met een milde sigaar 👍👍👍
Nose: Eh? Should this smell like the rubbery stuff the bottle is coated in – probably not, but it does. Weird. When the smell of latex catsuit (don’t ask) goes away there is some coffee in there, think roasted beans rather than brewed. Some smoky tobacco and prunes, quite earthy. Caramel and some vanilla too. Smells “manufactured”.
Palate: Let’s hope this is better. Argh! That rubber again, where does that come from?! Well, mouth-feel is pretty good at least – quite oily. Ah, better now; dry actually, I was expecting a sweeter rum. Smoky again, earthy leaves and raisins. Not really much oak. Honey on burnt toast and then some of that coffee (brewed and black this time) as it moves to the finish.
Finish: Short to medium and no rubber, phew. Ends sweeter than the palate and has some bitter oak as it tails off, smoky again.
Thoughts? Minus to rubber and coffee this would be a very ubiquitous rum, and I think I’d prefer that to what they've done to it to give it “character”

i guess for the price, you'd have lower expectations but this one is a delight... for the price.
depending on where you are, the prices may vary but where i am, this is fairly cheap compared to other rums in the market.
for the price, you get a good quality rum at very low price point.
i keep saying good value, low prices... but the liquid is actually very good itself.
had a vertical tasting of the brand's portfolio and 12 wasn't too shabby compared to it's brethren.
Un gout assez prononcer et complexe mélange de noix, vanille et café. Différent des autres rhums déjà bu. Le gout reste longtemps en bouche. Très bon en dégustation et agréable.
This was my favorite, with a late sweet warm finish, but have since found more smooth and more complex rums with less burn.
and very sippable neat. i am not fussy on the bottle like others here are, but to each their own.
While it doesn't match the complexity and longevity of it's older brother, it is still worth buying. The Dictador range has a distinct taste to it - not quite as sweet as a lot of the crowd pleasers out there. Hints of citrus and liquorice.
Excellent rum with a nice citrus taste and finish. Very sippable.
It’s a very intense, pungent smelling rum.
"The taste of the Dictador initially is very much of coffee. It still has a fruity taste but it has a lot more going on that just being sweet. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I like coffee. Concetrated coffee, italian kind of ristretto, especially after a good meal, on a late evening. Il owe and like a gin called Qahwa, which obviously mix up orange and coffee. That was my first option in case no coffee was available.
This rum is a real alternative to both other options. It tastes caramel, dark chocolate and coffee, which is my profile. So, if you're like me, do not hesitate ! Try the Insolent version as well (cfr. review)
