Thrasher’s 2019 Relaxed

Sugar 0-5 GPL. This is a very good over proof Jamaican style rum without that distinctive Jamaican smell and taste. Oak, vanilla, and caramel notes prevail, and it's 50+% ABV is hidden fairly well by it's well balanced blend. We put this into our Christmas eggnog and it tasted fantastic but it sneaks up on you and I passed out in my chair. It's a very good over proof mixer. I did try it neat and with ice but the ABV makes it too harsh for that. One of the best I have tasted.

Tasted at the Distillery tour on 5/23/23. Sampled a bottle from Barrel number 10 which was 102.6 proof. This was distilled in 2019 and bottled at 3 years old. Dark amber in color. Slightly garnet. A bouquet of treacle and honeysuckle. This has a woodiness and chewy thick palate that really amplifies the complex flavors of vanilla and oranges and chocolates. Can't wait to see what longer times in the barrel will do to this in the future.
