Foursquare 2009 12-Year

So well balanced. Flavor so complext my brain going on overdrive. Smoth and tastfull. Best rum for me. Love it!!

Enjoyable on the palate. Intense at first and then smooths out.

Tasted this with 5 other rum drinkers and we all had the same opinion. Terrible is not a strong enough word to describe this rum after you drop $90 on it. The alcohol burn is so pronounced that it buries all flavors the rum may have. Not even a full cube of ice could buffer the harshness of the alcohol. No exaggeration - i would take almost any 5 year rum over this. Do not waste your money.

Foursquare and Richard Seale have helped drive the recent resurgence rum has experienced. This bottle is a perfect example of why they've been so successful. To have a product this complex completely free of additives is something special. If you see a bottle, don't hesitate to get one!

More than six months ago, I took my chances on a bottle of this one. I vividly remember getting in heated discussions on here about the very bitter finish. The high tannin content is to blame and adding ice cubes only makes it worse. Needless to say, I never bought another bottle and many are still on the shelf in my neck of the woods. A rare feat for this line of rums that always fly off the shelf.

9.00/10 this was a stellar offering from FS, I purchased a bottle and will be on the lookout for another.

Little ester (glue) aroma, full body, maybe ginger in the taste, cocoa and honey in the aftertaste.

Fick bli en redan öppnad flaska idag! Har blivit lite svag för Foursquare ECS serien. 2009 är en trevlig ”nykomling”! Som släpptes förra året. Uppskattar verkligen fatlagringen på EX- Bourbon fat som ger en mycket trevlig ton på smakerna.
Doft:
Mycket fatkarraktär i doften! Vaniljen är betydande. Sötma från torkad frukt finns i bakgrunden. Känns som lite aprikos. Och du som varit med ett tag och gick i småskolan på 70 talet kommer att tänka på ”Björnklister” lite åt aceton/lim hållet fast på ett behagligt sätt.
Smak:
Betydligt mer rund i smakerna än förväntat av en 60%are! Första dippen betydligt sötare än förväntat. Antar att Bourbon faten bidrar till detta. Efter några sekunder kommer sälta och karamell. Dyker upp lite tobak i eftersmaken som jag tycker är riktigt trevlig ton.
Eftersmaken ligger kvar länge!

En mycket trevlig erfarenhet som jag gärna återkommer till. Är det den bästa av Exceptional Cask Series varianten?
Nej helt klart inte men ändock en riktigt härlig Rom från Barbados. Konstaterar att ECS serien levererar oavsett vilken man väljer.

Don’t know why I’m surprised, this distillery can do no wrong. Buy this one, it’s amazing.

In my opinion almost a perfect rum. I have tried many of the ECS offerings and this one is hands down my favorite.
