I have sampled some of the Clement rums and thus far liked them all. This one, however, is more challenging. It is quite different. It is a blend of single-cane agricole rums then matured for three years in used French oak barrels. It is a rich, deep amber colors with a strong yet pleasant aroma. The flavor pulls no punches. There is an immediate pepperiness with an underlying cane juice sweetness (just a hint) along with definitely oak flavor. It has a real burn to it. This is almost like a young bourbon in a way. It has a dry finish. In some of their other agricole rums a noticeable grassiness is present but in this rum it is barely noticeable until the finish and then you can taste it until it fades away.
Hard to consider this a sipping rum. I would prefer it as a mixer but not certain what sort of drink it would do best in. I would hesitate using it in fruit-based cocktails but I wouldn't turn down one made with this rum.
Overall, a complex rum for advanced palates. This is definitely not a rum for novices.
Une douce et agréable sensation envahit le palais. Des notes vanillées viennent enrichir ce rhum qui pourrait avoir été vieilli dans des fûts de bourbon.
Herkomst: Martinique
Abv: 40%
Fles: 70cl, typische Clement vorm
Aroma: hout, zoethout, tabak.
Smaak: hout, kruiden, zachte karamel en vanille.
Heerlijke agricole voor een zacht prijsje.
Enjoyable sipping agricole. I always keep a bottle of this on hand.
I had to do a double take that I was actually drinking rum and not something else. Very dry and mellow, definitely understand the bourbon comments. Wasn't harsh, imo, like some of the other reviews, but I think this bottle had been open for a bit. 6.5 if I could give it one, but I'll round up to 7.
Lehký rum se dřevem a příjemnou ovocností, trocha zemitosti. Je to lehounké.
Had this open for a while now, as I don't really drink that much Agricole. However, I just finished a Bally Ambre, which I enjoyed, so turned my attention to this. Maybe my tastes have changed a bit, but I'm really enjoying this one.
It has a good purity of cane tempered with a gentle oak. Not hugely complex, but an easy sipper with quite a good length. The dryness of the finish makes you want to top up!
The flavor is what you’d expect for a slightly aged agricole. Whisky notes, cane, some heat
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Had just a sample so this is just a first impression, but I will not hesitate to try it once again.
Clement is an Agricole that’s distilled from fermented fresh sugar cane juice at distillery Le Simon, where also HSE is distilled.
After distillation in a column still it’s aged at the Habitation Clement in specially selected heavily toasted barrels, according to their website.
Rhum Clement Select Barrel is a blend and aged for at least three years before bottled at the quite low ABV of 40%.
The aroma is quite weak, but pleasant. In mouth and in the palate it’s smooth and I recognize fruits, vanilla, grass and sugar cane. The finish is short to medium and smooth.
Overall it’s a very kind Agricole, maybe too kind.
