The rum was bottled at 48%. We have a blend of pot and coffey still that has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels for 12 years. Some of it was stored in ex-Madeira barrels.

Smell: A typical Foursquare finds its way into my nose. Caramel sweetness, dried fruits such as plums / raisins / cranberries and hazelnuts dominate the nose. The rum is a bit alcoholic deeper in the glass. The aromas are therefore not clearly distinguishable for me.
There are still barrel aromas such as oak, some vanilla and some rubber. I think it has similarities with Detente. This is a Foursquare that smells okay, but for me it doesn't belong to the better ones of the ECS series.

Taste: The start is a bit bitter with tannins, the dark wood and the sweetness of burnt sugar. The rum is noticeably older than Detente and more intense on the palate than on the nose. I still taste some gum and the dried fruit before the rum becomes dry on the palate and spicy.
The finish is sharp and medium-long, I can taste barrel aromas, burnt sugar and dried fruits again. Then some hazelnut and the rum says goodbye with a little sweetness.
A dry mouthfeel remains.

Aftertaste: dried fruit, burnt sugar and bourbon barrel flavors

A mediocre bottling that was probably positioned in the middle in terms of price. The rum is not bad, but it didn't impress real Foursquare fans because it provides a standard range of flavors. The influence of Madeira barrel is limited, compared with Empery that has a much stronger sherry influence.

It is definitely a rum for whiskey drinkers.
I tasted Premise and now Sagacity .... I tasted both side by side. They are very similar, but Sagacity is more intense, with a lot of Bourbon style.
Sagacity is more complex, and offers a satisfying experience for even the most demanding people. It has a perfect balance between fruit and oak.
Highly recommended.

Just opened this bottle and already worried about running out. Best Foursquare I’ve had other than the Zinfandel (RIP). Love everything Richard touches.

Jeden z tých jemnejších zo série FQ. Veľmi dobrý na bežné pitie, obsah alkoholu to povoľuje. Pekne ovocné tóny, stredne dlhý záver, typický rozpoznateľný FQ. Určite prekonal minimálne Premise

Another brilliant rum by the godfather, how do I even score one that isn't possibly a 10. This does not have the depth of the exceptional cask 2005 or 2007 brilliant rum .. I wish I could score 9.5 on the app

First try with foursquare, was hoping for better. It tasted like an average oakey bourbon

So my first experience of foursquare was the Nobilliary - which is amazing and reminded me of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon.
This rum is delicious and so different. A beautiful rich mahogany colour. On the nose I get a varnish and sweetness. Nothing to special here on the nose. However, the taste starts out rich and sweet. Its full bodied and then it gives more, and then the flavours role into a Madeira cake aroma (sponge cake). The flavour really lingers on the finish. This is such an interesting rum that offers so much, and showcases Foursquare's brilliance at drawing out different character from ageing in differing styles of barrels.

Cheers...

I want to try all the Foursquare rums. This one is very flavorful, has a somewhat fruity nose, and you can taste the bourbon finish. Cask strength at 48%, it has a bit of a burn, but still quite good.

Aroma is gentle with vanila tones. Taste is fruity and natural sweet. Surprisingly complex lighter body. Aftertaste is longer with peach and oak tones. Nice surprise, worth taste.

Rich caramel and warm chocolate notes, smoky finish. Deep, complex taste

Caramel, dried fruits and raisins in aroma; vanilla, raisins with spicy wine cask finish in body; warming sherry tail.
