Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

Ochutnal som, ale nebaví ma. Jagermeister s tuzemakom pomiešame a peknú fľašku dáme. Hotovo
One of my first rums and what got me started on drinking rums.
Nice subtle spiced taste makes a great rum&coke
Benn drinking Rum for years and finallyn found Kraken ill drink nothing else fine taste and being 40% a bit more kick.
It's fairly smooth for being a spiced rum. A little sweeter and tastier than Captain Morgan or Sailor Jerry and higher proofed than both. I left my spiced rum phase a while ago but I would still drink this at a party no problem.
Picked this one up based on a friend's suggestion. Vanilla nose that gets better when I tasted it. The spices come forward but it doesn't completely overpower the Vanilla. Works well in mixed drinks too.
Particolare sopratutto la bottiglia. Devo riordinarlo per meglio coglierne le sfumature
Great all round rum. Mixes nice with cola.
Even better with ginger beer 😜
A dark liquid that mimics the color of an octopus, with a strange sweet aftertaste that plays to be rum. In addition, I bought a one-liter bottle because it was priced at a 0.7-liter bottle. I never want to taste this again.
Tmavá tekutina napodobující barvivo chobotnice, s podivnou nasládlou pachutí hrající si na rum. A to jsem vzal litr, protože byl za cenu sedmičky. To už raději lacinou whisky než tohle...
In general I'm not a "fan" of spiced rums, but I wanted to give it a try:
color: nut-brown
smell and taste: complex, a lot of flavors are present: caramel, vanilla, ginger, clove and many more..with a hint of coffee at the end. Finish: long, vividly spicy
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

First off, I am not a fan of spiced rums. Having seen large quantities of this stuff on the grocery shelves for years also put me off from trying it. Then one day, I was looking for a rum between the standard 80 proof and overproof. I actually picked up a bottle to read the back of the label. As soon as I saw that it came from the northern part of the USA, I put it back on the shelf. Then I found out that it is very dark rum from Trinidad aged only 1-2 years with added spices. In other words, rot gut rum with spices was then shipped to the USA for distribution. I finally gave in and bought my only bottle about a month ago.
It is similar to the black Navy standard rums like Goslings Black Seal and Pussers, and I happen to hate both of them. I only drank this stuff on the rocks and was not impressed with it at all. But someone should have told me, "Hey stupid! Spiced rums with kicks are only to be mixed.". The next day, it always did a number on my system, which proves to me that it is rot gut in disguise. Eventually, that bottle was gone with me swearing never again.
I finally went to their website to learn more about it. There are lots of brilliant and hilarious videos about the Kraken sea monster that inspired it, as well as an equally brilliant and hilarious test to join their League Of Darkness. There are even giant hand painted murals in NYC and Chicago. Talk about a great marketing campaign. But leave it to me to find about anything many years later after becoming a hit. I plead guilty to being held down by a Kraken far below the surface and feeding it my own supply of rum to spare it from killing me.
