Monymusk EMB Plummer Tropical Aging 14-Year

Got this sample from my youngest son a month ago.
It’s a blend of rum from the Clarendon Distillery selected by Velier and E&A Sheer from casks with rum distilled 2002, 2004 and 2006. It’s bottled 2020 which gives it’s 14 years old.
It’s a pot still destilled rum, tropical aged on site in Jamaica with an ester level of 324.5 gr/hlap which gives that it’s a “Plummer" (EMB) category of the distillery.
The nose is complex, smooth, round, fruity, oaky and nutty.
At the palate it’s still complex and you can feel the ABV. After a while and during the long finish you recognize the esters, the fruitiness and all the other aromas as tastes.
Overall a great rum with a fantastic nose as well as a fantastic finish.

Sampled at the King Kahuna Lounge on 12-9-23. Pours a sepia-colored amber brown. Aroma has a mild hogo, but what I really am reminded of is the grains in a single malt whiskey. Hot and strong, but filled with rich dark fruits plums and dates, but a leathery almost tannin taste as well. Caramel sweetness opens with a few drops of water.

Chuť: Plná, hutná chuť, se spoustou vjemů. Dřevitý výluh, cedr, dokonce až slanost, pak zase do sladka, ve stylu žvýkačky Pedro. (88 b)
Body: 87/100
Shrnutí: Ochutnán s kamarádem na naší srpnové akci. Tenhle čtyřtest se srovnávací sadou tropického a kontinentálního staření byl hodně náročný. Daný styl rumu se mi extrémně těžce popisuje a k tomu ta brutální síla 63,9, 64,7, 69 a 69,5% alkoholu, no byla to fuška.

bought this bottle last year at the end of summer, i really wanted a Velier bottle and i m happy that i bought it, i m not a great fan of Jamaican rum but this one i have to admit is the best Jamaican i tried ...
opened the bottle for my bday, you feel this very specific Jamaican taste called Jamaican funk but the rum is a concentrate of aromas and flavors, i recommend to add a drop or two of water because of the high alcohol percentage and if you smoke, try it with a medium/strong cigar after a good meal
conclusion: an expensive bottle and very hard to find (they make all in limited quantities) but
worth to buy it and now i m sure that i will buy more of that brand if/when i ll find them ...

Solid but nothing particularly great or interesting.
