Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

A sweet rum with some oak.
A crowd pleaser. This is where it all started for me some years ago.

Tastes nice, a really good entry into the world of rum, but... it is very sugary and sweet, very liquory. The added sugar takes away some of the rum notes I really like, so it was quite a disappointment for the price.
I loved the rich dark taste of this rum on its own or in a mixer.

Sweet but relatively neutral. Nice aroma and very neutral aftertaste. For its price, this is a good choice for those who like sweet rums.

I have a soft spot for anything Zacapa, as it was my introduction into quality rums. Is it overly sweet, yes. Are there better ones for the price point, yes. Still this was my gateway into this world and I have used it as a starter for several other people to realize the "rum" is not just a party drink or something to add to Coke.

sweet and above average standard easily afordable anywhere
Smooth, caramel aroma, soft oaky flavour. Distinct but still smooth.

Angenehme Süße, langanhaltender Geschmack. Zu keinem Zeitpunkt scharf am Gaumen. Schmeckt einfach sehr angenehm und abgestimmt. Unbedingte Empfehlung, leider nicht ganz günstig.
