Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

A truly superb rum, very sweet and soft. Dark brown sugar and molasses.

Warm, smooth and silky, long finish. It does not get much better than this.

This was my first taste of "real" rum, and I liked it.

I really enjoy Zacapa. I didn't know it wasn't aged 23 years until reading the reviews here. I'm not an expert on rums but I have a fairly good nose for quality wine, beer and spirits (I'm often fooled by cordials, lol). I would highly recommend the rum if you like a mild and balanced rum. I think it's delicious with couple ice cubes.

However I still see this get sold as a 23 year old rum at some bars. This is mostly the bar owners faults but the bottle's design doesn't help.

The taste is different than most rums. It definitely has it's own signature. The virgin sugar cane juice surely contributes to this. It's a very sweet rum. But also the smoky aftertaste.

I've drank quite a few bottles of this and will continue in the future.

Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Sehr mild nicht zu alkoholisch relativ süß. Guter Einsteiger rum.

It gets a lot of hate currently from the "experienced" rum drinkers. However, I still think it's a pretty good choice, especially if you can get it for a reduced price. It's has that little bit of dryness and a slightly longer aftertaste than similar priced rhums. That being said, you can definetly find rhums that offer a more complex experience than Zacap 23. It lacks a longer aftertaste, complexity and some thickness.

Ikke en sofistikeret rom, men en ganske fin ledsager til en tv aften eller til kaffen med gæster, hvis det ikke er vigtigt at snoppe rom.

I have one bottle and once I felt the taste of pineapple. Very good rum for casual occasions. Only disappointment is there really much 23 percent year-old rum.

I found this in a duty free in Cancun. Knew nothing of it, but tried it. Loved it! Couldn't find it anywhere... now it is a little easier to find. I like how smooth it is and enjoy the finish... a lot! One of my go to rums for sure!
