Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Luxurious rum boasting rich flavors of caramel, honey, and dark chocolate. Silky texture with a lingering finish.
Zacapa 23 is a good rum and easy to find but compared to Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, it is no contest for the price. Zacapa 23 is overly sweet in an added sugar taste way but is smooth and easy to drink. A good choice but there are plenty of other less expensive and better options available.
Aroma is quite nice. New to this, but I smell tobacco, caramel, perhaps butterscotch or caramel with molasses. It's rather nice. Taste is good as well but finishes off with an unpleasant bourbon(?) bite.
Beautiful taste and very smooth but artificially sweetened. Tastes very nice but would probably not get it again.
Initial caramel smells and tobacco on the pallet which goes into caramel and vanilla.
It is very drinkable but I feel this rum is overrated. For the same price there are much more complex and straightforward rums than this.
Not really as good as expected. Too little nuance and just average...
Es rico para tomar solo, y tiene buena fama por los artÃculos que he leido.
En god duft at træ, jeg kunne dog godt bruge noget mere sødme.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Bit in the front, smooth at the end. Great for all occasions
