Just arrived from UK today had to try it. Nice smooth nose no alcohol burn. First taste on tongue not too sweet a bit dry, then comes the distinct difference from the sherry cask aging. Long lingering flavors but nothing overpowering. The most notable difference than other Foursquare rums is lack of after burn. I usually put a few drops of water in by now but not needed. A solid good rum not my favorite but not an 8 either. Solid Foursquare contender.
sherry and vanilla tastes are just similar to typical scotch single malt, but the sugar cane character makes it the totally different one. I love Foursquare esters and this one has it, but i felt it is slightly bland maybe caused by column&pot still blend.
Oak, vanilla, fruity, mint, soap, very balanced and enjoyable. Interesting/odd sulphur floral note mid palate that reminds me of potpourri

This has similarities to Dominus and a little to Premise. I rate it about the same as Dominus but way better than Premise, which i wasn't a fan of. The high percentage of Hereditas makes it fun to drink and not too tough to sip although i found it burnt like hot lead going down the throat. Not one of my favourite rums and it is quite steep in price but i can see some people raving about this.
Whisky characteristics would normally be a big plus for me. Don’t get me wrong, this is good. This is clearly a crafted distillation. The nose is downright BAD. The rum is smooth, complex and has the perfect amount of punch/bite. The balance is very good. Give me some different flavors and this is a 9. It has a synthetic almost glue like nose and the flavors are gooey and tar like. Thus is probably similar to the reaction people give when trying Laphroaig Scotch for the first time. That said.....I will Try this again. I love Laphroaig!
Light notes of vanilla and a touch of honey.
"It’s quite light in some ways but at the same time it has a certain heaviness ,particularly on the finish. This is a rich and very complex rum."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Like all ECS bottlings, this Foursquare is a mixture of pot and column still. It was bottled for The Whiskey Exchange. The rum was stored in bourbon casks for 10 years and in sherry casks for 4 years. The rum was bottled at cask strength with 56% alcohol without additives.
The nose is just awesome. Perhaps the best Foursquare nose. Lots of caramel, vanilla, raisins, roasted aromas and smoke. Plus butterscotch, nuts and tropical fruit. Nice. The rum doesn't quite get going on the palate. Caramel, vanilla, with roasted smoke flavors. The barrels are very present with notes of wood, bitter substances. Raisin and some berries come through. The finish is tart with nut, wood, smoke and a lot of bitter notes.
This Foursquare is very good. The sherry cask is good for the rum. Everything could be right here. On the palate, however, the rum seems a bit flat and the body does not want to fully develop. Maybe the rum is missing the 4-6% compared to the other ECS bottlings I have tasted so far. All in all a very good Foursquare.
