Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

Niet slecht maar je proeft goe orange smaak. Voor de collectie aan te vullen altijd goe.
Nice taste of orange and nice to deseet. You get tired of it quickly
Bloody hell! Be this a rum or a liqueur? She be sweet with hints of vanilla - as one would expect from a proper rum - but there also be orange, honey, and a hint of cola dancin' around my nose. As for taste, there be several fightin' for supremacy. First be orange and a bit of lemon, tastin' like a triple sec. Odd for a rum. Then, vanilla and brown sugar join in on the fray, but only briefly. Then, out of nowhere, there be a STRONG honey flavor lowerin' the boom and makin' the others run for safety below deck. When the dust settles, there be a bitter flavor, like the worst part of an orange rind that be dipped in black pepper. Might this be a sippin' rum? Aye, this not be an overly offensive rum, but there be better rums to be had, matey! arrgh!
I gave it a 5 because 4 was a flawed bottle. The Bottle's only flaw, was the alcohol in it. Really a horrible smelling and tasting rum. Completely smelled and tasted like lighter fluid. I got it as a gift and at first, thought it was a joke.
Not a terrible rum, but certainly overpriced.
The best thing here is the flair in packaging, including a little metal pendant with some sort of Buddha type character, a yellow hand tied ribbon, etc.
The rum is a fine mixer but not very memorable.
The problem with this rum is the orange flavor. Almost to much for me giving it a fake-ness that destroys the essence of rum.
I can detect some decent rum under the overpowering bitter orange flavor. Ladies favorite, not mine.
Pyrat has a nice start but a really harsh finish. It needs a soda or other mixer to swallow without having the shakes.
I only just now read the "time to breathe" review and will be trying that.
The rum itself is at best mediocre, but I love my little Buhda pyrat key chain present. To rough for my taste and the price...paid 46 $ CAD for it and deeply regret it.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Someone, in discussion on whisk(e)y and other aquavits poited out that rums among other spirits such as cognac, brandy, armagnac and calvados also would complement my spirits collection. Bingo, what a surpise.
