Pusser's British Navy Blue Label ABV40 3-Year rum

Pusser's British Navy Blue Label ABV40 3-Year

Virgin Islands, British | Aged | 40% ABV

The Great British Admiralty first served rum daily to its Royal Navy sailors over 300 years ago until the ration was abolished in 1970. In 1979 Charles Tobias bought the recipe rights, formed Pusser’s Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands, and for the first time made the rum it available for public consumption.

Pusser’s British Navy rum today is the same blend of five West Indian rums as the British Admiralty issued to sailors.

Known as the “single malt of rum” Pusser’s British Navy rum is pot stilled using a similar method as that for single malt scotches, and with no artificial flavors is 100% natural.

Rich, warming, semi-sweet, balanced, for a good price, I love it. I am amazed how fast it always disappears, I have not even managed to try this one with coke yet. Nice balance of demerara, oak and spices. The nose is strong and spicy, the body is so full and warming it makes me thinking of this rum on winter evenings. The mix of rums styles plays very well together and creates a complex taste, with a recognizable Jamaica and Guayana/Demerara roots, raisins, alspice and molasses. I have to go and enlist the navy. Excellent value for money. It is both an honestly crafted rum, and also its taste profile is also very likable and would satisfy all sorts of rum consumers, from the beginners who like it sweet, to the orthodox rum drinkers who like their rum rather dry. Reedit - the last bottle I bought 02/2021 had unusually heavy and bitter molasses in the smell and taste, turning the rum bitter, harsh and worse overall, forcing me to mix it with coke - the last bottle gets score 5 on my scale.

Spicy and strong rum but equally well balanced and tasty. Great for mixing, baking and sipping. Didn't lose it's qualities with the new packaging, percentage, label and name.

Color- tea , nice color . Nose-I'm getting molasses , licorice with a bit of alcohol . Pleasant . Taste- same as nose , a bit astringent to the tongue , but not to bad . A nice sipping rum . Did not like it with coke . Much better neat

Sturdy and straightforward. Strong, alcoholic nose with some fruit and wood notes. Clears the "hair" off the tongue. Decent slow-sipping rum. Neither as mellow and seductive as some, but a no-nonsense spirit.

Not bad or great. Strong flavor. Reminds me a little of appleton estate reserve but not quite as good.

Very mild and easy to sip. Extremely smooth with zero burn. A nice helping of molasses in the mouth. Would rate higher but a tad unpleasant on the nose.

Stopped into their establishment in Roadtown, Tortola. Great experience and a great drink feature called a Painkiller. The rum stands pretty well on its own too.

I think the history behind this rum is more exciting and interesting than its taste. It was...okay. Not bad, but not the great rum I expected.
