Pusser's Gunpowder Proof Spiced 3-Year

I was doing a tasting session with several rums back to back and this was the only rum I hadnt tried before.

This rum tastes like someone spilt it on a freshly varnished wooden deck the soaked it back up with a mop then poured it back into the main body of rum, then labelled it spiced...

Rough as the high seas, full of characteristic peppery notes and burn.

Not the easiest rum to drink, tried it straight and mixed. Far from the worst, but expected more. Feels like it might be more complex, and could do with being poured over some ice, so it might grow on me.

Ill check back once I finished the bottle.

Warm on the pallet due to its prodigious ABV at 54.5%, but smooth with a caramelised banana finish. Excellent over ice or with a mixer. Either way try it with a slice (or more) of orange, it really works.

I’m not a lover of some spiced rums, I find they taste like a cross between rum and chemical flavoured essences, but this is smooth, this is a real honest rum, from the first sip to the last, it’s a perfect marriage of rum and spice. Top class rum, well done Pusser’s.
