Virgin Islands, British | Aged | 40% ABV
The Great British Admiralty first served rum daily to its Royal Navy sailors over 300 years ago until the ration was abolished in 1970. In 1979 Charles Tobias bought the recipe rights, formed Pusser’s Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands, and for the first time made the rum it available for public consumption.
Pusser’s British Navy rum today is the same blend of five West Indian rums as the British Admiralty issued to sailors.
Known as the “single malt of rum” Pusser’s British Navy rum is pot stilled using a similar method as that for single malt scotches, and with no artificial flavors is 100% natural.

I like the color, aroma, and taste of this rum. I use it to make Painkiller (a fantastic drink).
A real good navy rum. If it's the real replica of British Navy old rum ration, sailors were the luckiest ones around the globe. Perfect taste balance between molasses and spices.
Bon rhum à découvrir, le gout est tres bon malgré son manque de finesse
The Pusser’s Painkiller is a wonderful thing, and this is perfect for its own recipe. Yeah, it can be sipped, but I find the flavor overpowered by the burn. Stick to sweet mixing for this one to allow that underlying flavor (which would otherwise be enjoyable) to come out.
Robe claire-foncé. Nez sur la banane. Côté caramel, cerise, sucre d'orge et torréfaction. Bonne amertume, sur l’alcool, avec un petit côté de gout de renfermé. Assez simple comme aromes.
What got me started on my rum journey was a recommendation for Pusser's 10 year old rum. I never found it before I started to try many others. Since the description of this rum is more historical than quality based I stayed away. I think Pusser's charges a premium for the name so I never bought it. Today a friend had some and I had a chance to try it. I only had one glass rather than a bottle, but I was surprised that it was quite pleasant. I only drink it on the rocks and I like the taste as well as the smoothness. I have to give it an 8 on first impression. I hope my next encounter is as good.
No specific distinctive characteristics other than being a regular rum. Tastes a bit oaky no spice no sugary taste either. It is ok to sip and good to mix.
...smell let's me almost vomit...even after time it does not change.
The taste is a bit better...not a sipper though...for mixing probadly better...even though for the price you get a lot better...
The history behind is nice and interesting...that is why I did not rate it a 4.
Original tot served to sailors

It has just the right balance of sweet.
"The rum is rich, warming, sweet, slightly oaked with hints of black pepper and allspice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

You don't always get what you pay for either way but this is a £20 rhum. Its nice with a mixer but alone its a bit harsh on my palette and for me lacks those smoother qualities of a more refined rhum, probably good on someone else's but hey we are all different.
