Pusser's British Navy Blue Label ABV40 3-Year rum

Pusser's British Navy Blue Label ABV40 3-Year

Virgin Islands, British | Aged | 40% ABV

The Great British Admiralty first served rum daily to its Royal Navy sailors over 300 years ago until the ration was abolished in 1970. In 1979 Charles Tobias bought the recipe rights, formed Pusser’s Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands, and for the first time made the rum it available for public consumption.

Pusser’s British Navy rum today is the same blend of five West Indian rums as the British Admiralty issued to sailors.

Known as the “single malt of rum” Pusser’s British Navy rum is pot stilled using a similar method as that for single malt scotches, and with no artificial flavors is 100% natural.

This is good and not expensive rum. I like the taste and is good on the nose.

Wonderful value for the price. This rum has enough complexity and smoothness to sip neat, perhaps with splash of water; yet, stands up well with some old-fashioned spiced cola (Pepsi 1893) as well. Taken neat, there's a big, strong burnt caramel, butter and a spicy finish. There's some prune, raisin, molasses and diesel fuel buried in the flavor profile. Endlessly interesting.

Good enough to sip but an excellent mixer. Coconut, butterscotch, dried fruit and packs a little punch. I didnt think water changed it all that much. Short finish.

Det her er en spitze rom - især til den pris! En af de første jeg smagte og et sikkert genkøb når flasken er tom

Vůně: tabák, lehce rašelinový, štiplavý dřevěný , ale velmi komplexní
Chuť: rozvíjí se později a našel bych v ní i cestu k whisce
Velmi zajímavý počin a doporučuji ochutnat
Může pomoct s krokem k whiskám

In my youth, I took a cruise in the British Virgin Islands. Since then, this has been my go-to. It has body and authority. I largely drink it with tonic, which lets its character shine through. A solid, everyday rum.

Classic history aside, it’s a rock solid poor: Painkillers yes, but a solid mixer with most.

I’m sipping this neat more and more. Brown sugar, slightly funky, and alcohol forward.

Sailed in the BVI numerous times. Pusser is known as an essential ingredient for the Painkiller, a luscious combination of dark rum, pineapple, juice, orange juice, creme of coconut, and nutmeg. The rum has nice nose with caramel, and a slight bite. Try it, you'll like it.

Reminds me of the dark Navy Captain Morgan or Lamb's dark Navy Rum...
