Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

The big issue with this rum is it's supposed to be a combination of Barbadian rums but it tastes nothing like any other barbadian rums. Supposedly aged between 12 and 20 years, it tastes like it's been aged 3-5, the fact that there's no real age statement on the bottle but a bright gold 20! and a tiny "th" just screams trickery. It's not even that different to Plantation's 5 year Barbados offering and definitely not worth the price difference. The best thing it has going for it is the beautiful bottle. I know that Plantation's schtick is all about elevage and getting it to France and aging it there but I almost wish they had have kept it in barbados and bottled it there, particularly so they couldn't have added sugar (against the law there). For some reason it seems really watery especially considering how old it's supposed to be. It's nice and if you have friends who don't like rum they'll love this but I wouldn't buy a bottle again.

Can enjoy this anytime. Smooth, dark, hints of chocolate and no Afters.
I currently have 2 bottles, the first time i tried it was a gift from my girlfriend ..., and it was an excellent gift i must say. I did not expect such good rum; it's very balanced with sweet, woody and vanilla notes. In addition he presents a dark amber color that makes it very striking, finally the presentation of the bottle is very original.
Tremendous Ron !!!
Tremendo Ron !!!

I can't believe I'm seeing 7's for this rum. I think its a solid 9. It's a high priced rum that delivers as sipper.

En mjuk och len historia med tokmycket smak. Mycket bra rom!
Celui là est vraiment sympathique. Hâte de goûter toute la collection
I’ve had several bottles of this one, and I learned that there is a slight difference in taste between them. But over all, it’s still among my top 5.

Yes, it’s very sweet, but it’s also very tasty and aromatic. Great, voluminous, full taste! Very authentic and complete. Sweet, but still balanced very well. Strong, long lasting character. Absolutely no burn! Totally smooth. For me, this rum tastes just as rum shall taste, hard to top.
Sugar: 24-30 g/l (depending on source)
9,8 (-0,2 for being almost too sweet)

I bought this bottle based on the ratings I read on this App. I'm happy I say I wasn't disappointed! Definitely no need to use mix for this rum. One of the Smoothest rums I have tried so far. I will definitely buy a second bottle....and a third.... and a ........
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum is little bit overpriced here in Czech Republic. It is very good yet quite sharp for a 20-year (of course a bled with younger rums) old drink. It's totally worth trying as it's taste is interesting, full-bodied and great for those who don't expect really sweet taste, but I would expect more rounded body from such an old guy.
