The Plantation Grande Reserve 5 is a light coloured, aromatic rum with loads of subtleties to its flavour profile. Be warned though; said subtle flavours will be totally lost if you dare to use this as a mixer. Neat, it's fantastic; a proper sipper that you'll really enjoy. Mixed, it disappears into the background as though it's just some bland, generic product—which it DEFINITELY isn't—and tragically loses everything you enjoyed about it. I'll certainly get this again. Thumbs up.
Smooth, tasty, with just a hint (my imagination?) of cinnamon. A great value for a rum to drink with ice
Barbados 5 years is one easy rum you can start with. It's tasty, sweet, last note not too long. A good introduction for beginners and amateurs of rum.
You could drink this straight, mild fruit, low burn. But this really shines when mixed. Price is very fair. I cut this into Mai Tais with another aged and find it to be very good!
Smells like almost nothing but a little alcohol.
Very light, almost refreshing. Hints of banana and brown sugar. Alcohol starts off mild then builds over time.
Decent price point. It definitely has a sweet vanilla, banana and cinnamon additive taste, but warms your throat going down. If you're new to sipping rum, this is a great starting point. And even if you're not, the price makes it a good one to have in your cabinet.
I think this is one of the best ways to spend $30. It's a different profile for sure, something that stands out from my other bottles. Lots of banana, pineapple, sugar, and a touch of spice. It's a little more subdued than the Original Dark, but smoother, with a better finish. This won't replace any of my favorites, but as something a little different, I'll definitely keep one on the shelf.
I do like this one. Good flavors, sweet (but not a total sugar-bomb), hints of the cognac finish come through nicely. Better than any other Barbados rum I've had close to this price point. Easy all around. I've got nothing to complain about on this one - short finish that is not overly remarkable, but I can live with that. Hits it out of the park for the price.
I have downgraded and adjusted the rating to better fit my continuing experiences with rum.

Heck the more i drink rum the more i find that Plantation is doing a great job. This rum is very nice, you can drink it neat, on the rocks or a quite tasty Rum and Coke. Good stuff for the money spent.
