Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

A couple of years ago I was blown away by this rum but since getting into sippers, coming back to it is not that great.
A bit medicinal tasting. It has that Dr. Pepper vibe with coke. I'd choose it over the captain on a night out
The kraken has to be my favourite spiced rum perfect for mixing but I can happily drink on the rocks with lime wedges I seem to be attached to the empty bottle's alsofor me it's perfect.

I tried this one for the first time at the 2011 UK Rumfest and i was somehow expecting more so i was a bit disappointed but they mixed such tasty rum punches with it so that took some of the disappointment away. Anyway, it´s an ok mixer at best.
The first thing that strikes you is the bottle, it brings a original feel. The next thing is the color, it brings an expectation of fullness and bold taste. The best thing however is the taste. Smooth, bold, full tatse with hints of caramel and vanilla. In my option this is rum is best experienced on the rocks.

with Coke a little bit better than Oakheart.
nose : sweet ,marzipan,licorice,spicy
taste : sweet ,marzipan, vanilla, spicy ,alcoholic

excellent mixing rum , for me
i don't normally like spiced rums but found the Kraken with its caramel background to be an easy tipple with coke. This ones not a sipper forme.
