Looking beyond Panama for inspiration, Napoleon is expertly finished in Cognac
casks from France for a deep explosion of ripe autumn fruit with elegant hints of
oak and dark chocolate.

I was thinking about this, it was like the Ferrand's "Plantation" brand rum because it was a cognac cask finish.
The flavor of Cognac was well harmonized with the rich flavor of Abuelo than I had expected.
Fantastic.
However too sweet for me.
Not the easiest one to drink but ohh my this one is good!
A dry and well balanced strong taste, the cognac casks finish it!
I guess this is not my type of rum, its kind of dry and has a weird flavor that I don't enjoy very much (may be because of the cognac finish). Its not bad overall and it looks good on my collection, however in my opinion its worth the price.
Fantastic and complex. So close to a 9 but just lacking a minuscule amount of depth and finesse on the finish. Same as the port finish: so close to being great (but just edges it). Decent value, grab a bottle.
From nose to finish this rum does not disapoint. Full bodied and just the right sweetness. Dark fruits with a hint of Sherry.
Sweet nose, with caramel vanilla tones. Sweet, and dry in the mouth and a long taste.
Nice rich flavor. Carmel bias on vanilla with a slight spicy note.
One of the best rums i've ever tasted. Drink at room temperature slowly
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Had just a sample for this tasting so itβs just a first impression, but I will probably not dig deeper into it.
Itβs produced by Varela Hermanos which is one of the largest, if not the largest, producers in Panama.
The rum is produced of molasses in a four column still then aged in ex-bourbon oak barrels for fourteen years and one year in former cognac barrels whereafter itβs bottled at ABV 40%.
The aroma is dominated by sugar and vanilla. In mouth and palate is it possible to feel that it had been in cognac barrels but much lesser than expected otherwise is it the sugar and vanilla that dominates. The rather short finish taste about the same.
Itβs overly sweetened, read somewhere that it was added 35g/l.
I had hard to judge it and stopped at 7-.
