The nose is rich, it reminds me of older sipping rums, molasses, orange peel, in the taste there is toffee, oak and dried fruits, the aftertaste goes towards bitter, with hint of coconut. Quite smooth for 5y old, can be sipped. No sugar added, quite decent for the money, with distinctive taste. As I do not fully appreciate the bitter tones the score between 6 and 7. In direct comparison with another 5y old made by Angostura, I am not trying to suggest there is some similarity in these two - I just happened to buy these two together, I like Angostura a bit more.

Reviewers rave about English Harbour rums and many find this 5 year old a good introduction to their range and a good value. I'm frankly less impressed. Not in the nose, on the palette, nor in the finish did this rum press my buttons. Perhaps I'll change my mind after consuming the bottle, but currently I see it only as a mixer.

Got used to it in Antigua this winter. Great with Ginger Ale and a twist of lime.

Nice bottle and reasonably cheap. For sipping, it is smooth but forgettable, literally. I left it on my shelf for months because I forgot I had it!

This is an everyday sipping rum that quenches my thirst while I keep from drinking all the 1981.
