El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Being a "Certified El Dorado Connoseur" (hehe), I'm perhaps a bit biased.
But this 15 yrs rum is plain awesome!
I actually found the 21 year to be a bit too harsh in comparison.
I've not tried the 25 (rare) rum from El Dorado, but from what I've heard that one might be worth a 10.
This one is easily recommended to everyone!
They don't sell this in Michigan so I had to order it online. It is a smooth. sweet rum. A little bit of a bite in the aftertaste, but a nice sipping rum.
Straight up
A very good rum great straight up, maybe a drop of water to bring some other flavors.
A classic aged rum without being to expensive, bright welcoming colour and nose with a pleasant after taste, you feel it all the down, not to be rushed but allowed to excite your taste buds, sipped over a little ice is best, will work well in a mix and is always best drunk with friends.
Well served and enjoyed...another keeper
Starts with quite a dry nose. Good mix of spice and buttery smoothness with a lingering woodsy finish that coats the mouth. Not as buttery as the 20 year, which is a good thing. Seems to be missing a slight complexity that would make this a truly fantastic rum.
This, my friends, is Rum. Not fussy, not overworked, just delicious. I take it neat.
This was the first aged rum I ever laid my lips on, it was dry, spicy and slightly sweet. The richness of the demerara sugar gave this rum a great depth that many rums can't hold up to these days. No wonder it's one on the top rums in the world.
With a few ice cubes and marry them for about 10 minutes. On the side of a hot tub...dreamscape!!
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...

Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."

The 15 was a great bottle that everyone seemed to like. It is good on the rocks, straight up and even mixing.
I would mix the 12 first and the 21 is only for sipping (straight or on Ice). I tried mixing the 21 for the hell of it and did not like it that way? That was a first.
We started a big Rum tasting on new years of 2016 and still going strong. 3 to 5 bottle get togethers every 4 to 6 weeks. About to wind it down, it has been a load of fun and discovery. Of course the grand tasting will be this fall with all the open bottles.
Hard to go wrong with this bottle. Enjoy!
