I'm putting this as my bottom ECS but that's also kind of like saying "this is the worst Ferrari made" as it's better than most out there.

This is a very fine rum with a great balance of sweetness, strength and taste. Such a shame i will never own a bottle since it has all sold out! I was lucky enough to get a 5cl sample and enjoyed it quite a bit. I wouldn't say it is absolutely ground breaking but what it is, is a very enjoyable rum worthy of owning and enjoying.
Perfect sip. Nice burn, strong finish, great pure flavor. Must have on the bar.

N- Roasted cocoa bean, full and firm molasses with bean-y fragrance, caramelized fruits and honey laced berries. Coffee on sub notes, fruit preserves and resin, mixed toasted spices and caraway. Feel charming and the Zinfandel Cask does some how brighten things up a bit. (88/22)
P- Velvet, pleasant rum with direct profile, and simply swims well on palate. Lovely texture, whispers of fruits and adequately sweet. Bottled at much lower strength compare to Mark III, which may have strip some of its boldness and feel feminine, but shows quality credential for a fine rum. (85/19)
F- Medium, creamy, hearty and fruity. (85/19)
B/B- 86/20
Weighted Rate- 80pt

It's like a blend of all the awesome rums I've ever tried. This is a generous 9 admittedly but it deserves rewarding. It takes balls to make something like this and balls to drink it neat. I am a happy pirate.

This is not my favorite Foursquare bottling at all. The wine speaks too loudly, and has given odd notes to the rum. Its not well integrated, I feel.

I bought this because it is rated so highly on here and agree that it is quite fantastic! My favorite is El Dorado 12, but this is definitely less sweet and has more character, fruity notes, cinnamon and oaky with a nice Zinfandel finish, quality sipper!

Light fruity strawberries, a great mix of vanilla and spicy notes on the mid palate.
"The finish is long and nicely oaked – the initial sweetness of the sip gives way to the oak and spice from the bourbon casks."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

No added sugar or flavors. Everything is coming from distilling and barrel aging. I am interested to learn where foursquare is getting their zin barrels from. The nose is extremely heady and floral. In a blind tasting I would probably never guess wine but knowing it's there sends you searching and it is indeed detectable, floating up top in the back of the nose. The palate is rich and thankfully it's bottled at 43%. I can't help but wonder how the blender came to this ratio of bourbon and zin and how the line can be tipped one way or the other.
I bought this along with the amazing 2004 so I could gain side by side perspective. The zin has far less charred white oak that so dominates the 2004! This gives it a multi dimentional quality and would be perfect pairing with a well rounded charcuterie platter.
Bottom line, these R.L. Seale rums in the Foursquare line are stellar.
Unless your favorite rum is El Dorado 12, in which case I'm truly sorry for you, your going to want to get this.
A note on packaging... It's bare bones no frills screw cap bottling and thats okay. Whats inside truly speaks for itself.
