El Dorado 8-year is distilled from fermented molasses before it’s aged 8 years.

The El Dorado 8 Years is considerably spicier than it's 12 year counterpart but equally sweet. It feels lighter and less smooth.
In my opinion this a superb very well tasting mixing rum. I would give it a rather high 6/10 score as a straight up sipping rum.
I have not found any figures on added sugar for this one, I suspect there is some though minimal compared to its older brethren. This has become my favorite in the lineup.
Edit : This one has around 15 grams/ltr of added sugar, which is a fair amount but only 1/3 as much as the 12 yr and half as much as the 15 - neither of which will I buy any more. Why should I when I could pay $15 for this and add some sugar, resulting in pretty much the same flavor profile?
I tried this rum a few days ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. The best way I can describe this rum is it's like drinking a warm molasses bun.
A bit of a bite at the first sip, but very smooth finish. Has a whiskey vibe to it, likely due to the 8 year cask aging. I was initially surprised to see that it is made in Guyana, as you don't normally associate Guyana with rum. Would definitely recommend this either on the rocks.
Smooth with a bit of a spicy bite. One of my favourite taste. My wife doesn't prefer rum, but she likes this.
About as sweet as I can manage it. Any sweeter and it would be off my scale. Also love the 5-year old version.
the colour and texture of this drink is quite beautiful. the bottle isnt for me but the label and contents are great
This is one hell of a smooth drop for an 8 year old and I was more than impressed with it.
I highly recommend this drink straight. It isnt overly sugary nor does the aromas over power you.
I will buy more of this
Lovely drink at an affordable price. Not going to compete with the expensive sippers but for £20-£25 I think you will struggle to beat it.
This is one of the best "cheap" rums around, smooth with some heat, nice colour and smell, well worth having on the shelf...
It’s floral, there are notes of dark chocolate and dried fruits.
"It isn’t rough but it does have quite a spicy burn and finish. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
