Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

This is great rum. I still have a hard time drinking any rum neat, or on the rocks, but managed to enjoy this one without mix.

I keep coming back to the 12 as a fabulous drop for the money. Consistent and deep, I prefer it to the 15. I can't taste the bourbon in this one at all for some reason, perhaps it is there but I get minimal feedback from that cask. I think Dip ER and Zacapa 23 is the popular rum that moves other spirit drinkers to sipping Rums but this is the one that keeps many there.

Smooth and sweet. I actually prefer this one over the 15-year

I agree with this review .T"his rum is very excellent in the glass and the nose is very smooth. First sip will hit your mouth with baking spice and orange peel with a hint of other fruits. The spice calms down a bit and leaves a lovely caramel flavor coating on the tongue. Burn is very minimal and is a very smooth rum"

I have to say i prefer 8yo Eldo as this one is a bit sweeter than I like. But still overall great rum for great price.

Very smooth and silky sipping rum. The only reason I didn't give 10 is because there is a possibility that there might exist even better rum.

I received this rum as a birthday present and it is a gift that has kept on giving. I occasional pick up another bottle and enjoy it more every time. Sweet and smooth!

I used to love the Diplomatico Exclusiva rum, but as you delve deeper... it is after some time just sweet and otherwise a little bland. This rum is similar, but apart from the smoothness and sweetness it gives such a lot of various tones and flavors... mainly almonds (slighty bitter) and the barrel-taste (woodish tones).

Try and compare ;)

EDIT: Moved to 8/10 once I tried El Dorado 15 (9/10) and letting an open 10/10 once I taste 21-year old ;)

Av dessa tre är den 12-åriga kanske förvånansvärt nog den bästa. Helt enkelt en suveränt god rom! Bra med tanke på att den kostar minst av dem:-D! Den är ju då dessutom oerhört prisvärd! Bland mina top-tre just nu.

Sans le recommander à tous les repas, ce rhum est de loin le couteau suisse des rhum. Il saura plaire à tous. Un petit rhum abordable qui saura dépanner sans vous ruiner.
