My favourite rum within Doorly's range. Very dry butat the same time very smooth, gently sweet and oily enough. Perfect as a gift!
I am a fan of Foursquare and Richard Seale. That being said this rum falls short of R.L Seale 10 year for me. It is a bit darker in color than the R.L. Aroma very similar but the Doorly's just seems a bit to dry compared to the R.L. and has a more prevalent whisky taste. Both are 43% ABV but the Doorly's just seems a little less smooth than the R.L Seales.
After a couple of emptied bottles of this beauty, I noticet it is missing in my cabinet on rumratings. This is undeniably a Bajan classic, crisp, entertaining and for a good buck. The nose is pure delight, strong but fresh, citrus fruit mix, dried fruits, vanilla, underscored by white oak and a hint of burnt caramel, the taste starts with sweet buttery caramel, then comes a whole palette of tastes of citrus fruits which gradually turns to bitter grapefruit and prominent oak, the aftertaste is long, pleasant combination of all mentioned components, with pronounced citrus fruits and oak (slightly charred). A must-have for all Bajan enthusiasts. Overall it is very similar to Mount Gay XO (I mean the new expression - three casks).
Can't be objective because I love it. Very complex, rich taste developing with time so you can feel every nuance without falling out of the whole composition. A bit sweet but rather dry, with fruits like apricot, banana, chocolate, tobacco, hints of freshness and long aftertasting. For rare homelike moments enjoying it.
Anything from foursquare distillery is amazing and Doorly's is no different. The 12 year is so smooth and delicious! If you're getting into sipping rums this would be my first recommendation for anyone to try. The bottle isn't expensive but man does is sip well.
Good nose, fairly consistent with many Barbados rums. Taste has some vanilla, reasonable sweetness, and some alcohol burn that I wasn’t really expecting.
This is the first rum I consciously bought - for tasting. I was not disappointed :)
Familiar notes of vanilla and light toffee/caramel.
"An initial hit of sweetness, brown sugar and a little spicy pepper is overtaken by dry oaked flavour and a nice spiced heat. The finish is very smooth and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

For the low price of only $24.99 (Total Wine & More), I didn't expect this rum to live up to it's rating (currently an 8.1). But it does.
Smells and tastes of caramel, a peppery spice, bourbon, and oak. I rate it a solid "8", which for the price is a bargain!
