Like all Foursquare stuff, this was great. Decent nose, smooth going down, nice finish.

At Foursquare today was able to sample a few hard to find rums. This one was special the oldest ECS to date at 18. Years. Quite smooth at over 60% with the great classic Foursquare bourbon, bread and island spice flavors. Buy. It if you can find it. I hear 2011 has been released but. Also hard to find in US.

Usualy I buy 2 bottles of Foursquare ECS series. One for tasting and second for my collection.
But only 5 bottles of Covenant for all my country and I was happy to get one.
So in this case I got a single shot in my liqure store where I bought this bottle.
According this small volume I can only say: too much whisky /wood/ . I didn’t feel any sugar. I will keep searching for another bottle. I changed my mind many times after finishing of a whole bottle.

Nose is of the ocean with vanilla, taste is classic foursquare of sweet bourbon flavor with overproof burn on finish that is the norm for this brand. Its what the 2012 foursquare should be, sweeter and less woody and less burn. Really impressive 3rd best foursquare behind indelible and zinfandel

Intense brown sugar, sharp oak, something slightly weird, bordering on subtle funk and a definite bourbon vibe, this is ECS vintage release not just cranked up to another level, but offering a deeper richer more complex experience.
It's a bit hot, but very manageably so. It's better integrated than 2010, but also less noticeably Foursquare, in that what I think of as the house style is less evident. Instead its big and rich and all the bourbon notes come through with the oak to make a great rum.
Is it worth £100? Of course not! Yes, it's a more rewarding dram than 2010 and yes I like it, and I'm glad I bought it, but compared to Papalin Haiti 4 year old that I had recently, it's not in the same park. It's good though, don't get me wrong. It's just not going to rock my world, and for this money, It needs to do that.
