I enjoyed this one. Strong and complex flavors with bourbon notes. If you like bourbon and want a good crossover, this is it.
Rigtig fin rom der kan stille lysten hos både den der vil have sødt og den der vil have stærkt.
I’m disappointed it’s not a bit higher proof! But this is lovely oaky smoky dry stuff. Distiller by foursquare in Barbados I believe
Nice and simple rum, not too much going on but what's there is really nice. A bit underwhelming for the price, but not bad by any means
Like many folk, I really enjoy Foursquare's special releases but it's getting very hard to get them, and at £75 and up, I could really do with a cheaper and more easily available alternative, which has led me to this.
Smell is pretty subtle - caramel, brown sugar and toffee - not as distinctive as most foursquare products.
Taste is similar, with a sweetness coming from the barrel char, a bit of burn and a long finish.
Much simpler in character than Elysium or any of the ECS, it reminds me more of R L Seale 10 year old. That's no bad thing, but I wouldn't say it was any better and it's quite a bit pricier.
Rum was probably made in honor to Cpt. Bill McCoy who was a rum smuggler. I guess that Foursquare identifies with Bill McCoy cause of the lack of additives, sugaring etc.
Something different than other Foursquare's rums like Doorlys or regular Foursquare
It's more dry on the palate, bourbon cask is very noticeable.
Voltage is too low for me. Slightly watery rum.
Very dark color
Nose:
typical smell of bajan rum, spices, toffee, caramel, demerara sugar, dark molasses, vanilla, dried fruits, bourbon, oak
Taste:
Very dry, oaky, woody, leathery, piquant, plenty of spices, mostly nutmeg, black pepper supported with cider wood, cigar notes, Maduro&Habano cigar leaves
Finish: short to medium
too watery for me, finish is too short nevertheless one of the driest bajan rums that I had an opporunity to try.
Cheers
Nice color and vanilla flavor. Had never heard of this bought it because i hadn't tried it.
Mature tropical fruits, demerara sugar, oak and baking spices
"The Real McCoy 12-Year rum review by a Mountain of Crushed Ice"
Has some very Bourbon like sweet/sour like notes.
"It is rich, intense and quite spicy. Very oaky yet not overly dry."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
