Mount Gay Black Barrel Double Cask 7-Year

I rate this about a 7.3, so it gets rounded down to 7. This is a great sipper for after dinner. Sweet, with vanilla burnt sugar notes. Slight alcohol burn that tapers off to a nice warmth with a medium long finish. If you can find it on sale, it is definitely worth the price, if not, there are slightly better rums in the same price range. I always keep a bottle or two of this on my shelf. It is decent in a rum and Coke, but that is a waste of this rum, much better to have neat after dinner.

Pretty pleasant drink with faint smokiness, vanilla and spice. A little overpriced, but still very drinkable

Smak: Delikatnie słodki, miodowo, korzenny oraz pieprzny.

Średni stosunek ceny do jakości. To już inny trunek niż wcześniejszy black barrel. Jest wyraźnie mniej aromatyczny oraz czuć w nim mniej ukryty alkohol niestety jest ostrzejszy niż poprzednia wersja.

Recenzie na rumy tejto značky sú dosť pozitívne, takže keď lokálny predajca ponúkol 30% zľavu, nezaváhal som. Prvý testujem Black Barrel, XO zatiaľ čaká na polici. Zaujímavá ploská fľaša, rum má peknú oranžovkastú farbu. Vôňa je krásne mohutná, so silne karamelovým buketom, cítiť aj med a snáď aj nejaké prezreté ovocie. Napriek vyššej voltáži (43%) je chuť až nečakane jemná, drink je suchší, ako som čakal, ale nemám s tým problém, práve naopak. Tu už značne dominuje dub mierne podmáznutý vanilkou, trochu ho to ťahá k whiskey, no vo veľmi príjemných medziach. Paleta tónov je pomerne úzka, presne takto mám rum rád - na nič sa nehrá, žiadne zbytočné kudrlinky, žiadneho správneho rumana nemôže uraziť. Rating silných 7, minimálne pre tú parádnu jemnosť. Od vyššieho levelu ho delí asi len vyššia cena (bez zľavy) a možno niečo, čím by vybočoval z radu. Toto bez debaty nie je posledná fľaša, ktorú som obstaral.

Mount Gay Black Double Cask is a traditional rum from the island of Barbados.
It’s a mix of rums from pot stills and old rums distilled in a column still.
The whole is refined in American oak barrels which previously contained bourbon and which were deeply burned in order to allow the wood to reveal its aromas.
The whole process delivers a rum that is both balanced and highly flavored. In the mouth we can smell the vanilla caramel toffee and the woody aromas. It is a very elegant rum!!!

Stosunek ceny (ok. 100 zł) do jakości - 10/10. Idealny na prezent dla osób, które lubią whisky, a nigdy nie próbowały dobrego, starzonego rumu.

This is a golden colored rum with a moderately intense nose, for me largely the vanilla/cask aromas present. The initial taste is bold with a nice bite. The complexity seemed to fade for a drier finish than some rums in my opinion. Believe this will make some excellent cocktails and can be sipped.

The old blend was the best rum and coke ever but the new blend is such a delight without mixing...
