trying it now along with the old version xo reserve cask, the old one just a decilter
left in the bottle, both rums sat in the glass half hour,
the old version in the nose less alcohol burn (almost empty bottle, opened around
9 months ago, so a little bit oxidized ?),
but in the mouth triple cask is better than the older one, less spices, more fruits, vanilla,
a lot of apricot, in the old version some little bitterness, here disappeared,
same abv of 43 %, if the old i gave 8, this one is around 9,5 for me !
just this is a little bit more expensive that the older one ...its the most fruity rum i ve tried so far, no additives, sorry if some people dont recognize the quality...
but ok blend of 5 to 17 old rum aged in ex American whiskey, ex bourbon and
ex cognac barrels, if we take quality/price, my rating will be a 10 !
their master select cost almost 3 times more, is it better ? yes but not 3 times better ...
just a little bit !

Sweet and smooth, exactly what you’d be looking for in a easy sipping rum. Not too complex, very pleasant.

Incredibly smooth with great undertones of demerara. Admittedly, it's been months since I last had a bottle of this, but I can't stop thinking about it. It's great quality for the price (~£50) and readily available online. Certainly, one for a connoisseur to sip.

Just couple of bottles appeared in our local store and I'm happy grabbed one of them.

I liked old XO a lot and this one is on par or, thanks to the cognac cask, a bit better.

Don't drink it straight from the bottle, let it breath for a good while.

Delicious, oily, smooth and perfectly balanced. Classic Barbados style along with, I guess, French elegancy. Chocolate notes as the bonus to fruits, vanilla.

Viva Mount Gay!

En rigtig god og klassisk Barbados rom. Er værd at prøve.

the old XO was one of my favourites, but i even like this, the triple cask, a little more. simply amazing rum, tasting very round and easily drinkable. the smell is maybe a little strong, but i also found this at some other rums from barbados, but the taste is amazing and i can fully recommend it. i guess this one is under my top 3!

For me, a very versatile Rum. Easy to Sip but equally enjoyable mixed with whatever your preference is. Will always have space in the cabinet for a bottle...Currently my preferred Rum.

Pleasant dark amber colour, mild on the nose with some smoke and coconut….drier than you’d expect with vanilla and burnt caramel coming through, although a slightly tart finish.

While I can agree that the flavor of this new version is identifiable as Mount Gay XO, it's got none of the kick or depth of the original. The nose is still nice, for whatever that's worth. But until the makers of Mount Gay bring back the original XO, I'll be looking for a new go-to rum. Shame too, as I've had a bottle of MGXO on hand for years now. Gonna miss it. Actually, I still have a back-up bottle. Gonna have to drink that one really slowly...
