Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Tastes like a heavy potstill rum, a bit on the sweet side. You can tast this blend has been aged in whisky, sherry and wine barrels. Aged on an altitude of 2300 meters. Although i prefer a cleaner tasting rum this was a nice experience

It's one of the first bottle I bought specifically to sip. Needs some air to breathe & I prefer it over a cube of ice. Thick start, smooth finish

This is a rum with a great story and/or marketing, but it is really not worth the price.
A little too sweet for me. Positive point are the nutty aromas and the quality of how it was distilled.

Smooth, goes down easy, lightly sweet. Not as creamy as Centenario XX but easily 8 points. A good sipping rum for under $50.

Having been introduced to sipping rum with Zacapa, I will freely admit I may be biased. However, Zacapa is an excellent rum, I prefer it on the rocks, but any method would be good.

Zacapa realise un rhum doux , sucre, equilibre.tres bon il manque juste de complexite et de longueur .il est considere par beaucoup parmis les 15 meilleurs rhums vieux abordables.A essayer obligatoirement pour tout amateur.note 8.0.

Extra Sweet to make it accessible to most, probably overpriced yet an easy everyday rum for beginners

After many a Havana club & coke Zacapa 23 was the rum that started me on drinking rum straight. I hear the critics about the actual age etc. Still to me its all about taste and and Zacapa has it in abundance. My go to sipping rum.
