Plantation 2004 Peru

A nice balance between sweetness, oak and some burn, but feels a bit flat. Breathing helps a bit, but still too short aftertaste

Smagt på Romhattens romfestival i Århus august 2020. Rigtig god og positiv overrasket. 7,8 men vil ikke op og give den 8.

Nose: Mainly ripe fruits.
Palate: Sharp and spicy, warm, voluminous. Unfortunately, the sharpness dominates and makes subtle flavours disappear. Not balanced well.

Very well balanced, not too sweet and not too oaky. Almost so well balanced that it becomes boring? I like the flavors but I'm finding it hard to describe them. Unfortunately unremarkable.

Rum zrál 12 let v sudech po bourbonu a slovinského dubu v Peru, následně 2-3 roky ve Francii v 350 l koňakových sudech Pierre Ferrand.
Rum pochází z Destilerias Unidas S.A. de Perou.

Aroma: Vanilka, květiny, v pozadí citrusy
Chuť: Lískové oříšky v medu
Dozvuk: Středně dlouhý, jemný - hořká čokoláda a oříšky
Sladkost: 1/3
Naslepo bych tipoval skotskou ze Speyside. Zajímavý kousek!

Figs, licorice, molases, touch of vanilla and citruses in aroma; caramel, gingerbread, walnuts, bananas, figs and bitter wooden barrel finish of the body; dry, chocolate, oak, mint and touch of coffee in tail.

Overall a great rum, feels a tad too alcoholic, has a nicely complex flavor profile.

It's totally disappointed me. I expected to feel some notes from maturating in the Ferrand casks - but I couldn't find anything special. It's just medium quality rum and for its price it's too bad! El Dorado and Diplomatico are far far better choice compared to this one.

Sampled at the Laka Lono Rum Club tasting on 4/13/19. Sweet fruity aroma. Hot. candy sweetness. Persimmons.
