Considering this has massive marketing in the UK at the moment . Disappointing to say the least on the rocks very few Barbadian flavours and if I'm honest I feel ripped off from the taste profile of it
A very good solid Bajan rum distilled by Foursquare I believe.
The blend of 3, 5 and 8 years has a youngish nose which starts with a waft of alcohol odeur, then comes refreshing Bajan nose of tropical (mainly citrus) fruits, the taste starts with sweet apricot jam (but without sugar added), then come citrus fruits, slight touch of white oak, then it turns into lasting, spicy, finish of sweet apricots and sour grapefruit. The overall feel is smooth, likeable, sippable rum, but I like Doorly's 5y more, which is somewhat cheaper (15-30%, depends where you buy the Neptune as its price varies quite a lot). Did not try to mix it, it disappeared too fast.
Frankly, this is very sippable and very smooth, there are however other rums with a bit more going on.
Can't go wrong with Foursquare though.
Neptune Rum is perfect for enjoying over ice or with your favourite mixer. The name also also definitely a reference to the Roman god of freshwater and the sea, not the eighth planet in our solar system or 1990s/2000s hip-hop production duo.
Not a bad drink, although considering how many awards it has claimed I was a bit underwhelmed. Quite drinkable but nothing to shout about
Fairly smooth and buttery but lacks depth and has a bit of a humdrum flavour. Nothing particularly stands out about this brand and considering what I paid for it I expected more.
Simpele rum met niet al te volle smaken. Alcohol geur en smaak zijn toch overheersend. Pittige afdronk. Waarschijnlijk prima voor in de mix
This is an altogether more spicy and oak influenced rum.
"There is a nice note of honey and caramel which hold this rum up nicely alongside the spicier, oakier elements."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A blend of Foursquare rums of 3, 5 and 8 years old sounds like a must have and like many (new?) blenders they are experimenting with a higher pot still part in their rum which could have been interesting.
First; this is a decent, well made and easygoing rum. There is baked fruit, a little vanilla and a little oak and a healthy pinch of pepper at the finish. There is definitely pot still rum in here but the 'wild part' of this rum has no real counterweight and the whole thing is a bit unbalanced and very, very light. All in all it lacks the character it is so hard trying to have it seems.
I bought this for β¬18 here in the Netherlands (I understand they are over Β£30 in the UK...) and even at that I would prefer Chairman's Reserve (if I like a little pot still action) or Doorly's 5yo (if I want the fruit). This rum is good but imo only halfway what it should be. Maybe suited to get a larger audience interested in pot still but when you already are it comes a little short.
