With an amber colour, this rum releases at first nose very quickly solvent notes that fade quickly to arrive on the brown sugar, candied fruit but also white fruits such as pear or maybe green one like the apple. Quite confusing actually. On the palate, the alcohol is present, it is robust, dry but pleasant. The white fruits are still there but nuts and spices are there too. Pepper and nutmeg. The woody finally takes its place and we arrive on a beautiful finale with chocolate. It's powerful, beautiful, nice. A real Neisson. Tasted : the 2004 Batch 3 - 52.7%
You can smell the baril.
very dry and plank taste but very soft for a 49.7% alcool
Visited the Neisson distillery while vacationing in Martinique. Self guided distillery tour ended with an open tasting bar. Neisson 12y was priced at EUR 170 per bottle at the distillery. Very nice and sturdy bottle design with a great old school label. Deep mahogany color. Traditional super dry Rhum Agricole flavors complemented with plenty of grass, very strong oak and a lot of citrus notes to the nose and palate. Surprisingly strong burn at the end since its so dry. Rhum Agricole fan boys can easily add 2 points to my score.
