Kraken Black Spiced

It's not bad for what it is. I'm not really a soft drink-liquor-mixing kinda guy, but i use this to make my guests a rum&cola if they request one. I find these way better than e.g. Bacardi or Havana club. It's good but it's nothing to be blown away by.

For what it is, it's great.
Basic mixer that is actually not hard to drink neat either.
Smell is vanilla/caramel. Taste is the same with little ginger back-note and surprisingly long staying power on the palate when drunk neat.

This rum has a pretty spicy nose, you need to wait for some minutes until this rum awards you with some notes of cherries. Palate has also little burn and is quite spicy, only some distant notes of vanilla and cinnamon. Short spicy finish.

I generally avoid spiced rums, but received a mini-bottle of the Kraken Black Spiced as a gag gift . Never to look a gift rum in the mouth, I tried it and felt it was a lot of okay.

I haven’t used it for much more but I like it with coke.

It is around the same price as Captain Morgan, Bacardi or Havana Club, but is clearly better. Alone it's really strong, but tastes ok. Better for a mixer. It tastes a little like artificial flavours but not so much as others of the same price. On the nose you get lot of vanilla (artificial). It's ok foro drinking with coke, it's possible to drink it neat but I would not recommend it to everyone...

Taste just like the bottle looks like: Artificial. There’s plenty other choices way better in that price range.

"Easily consumable in a bind" is indeed the best description for this rum. I was overwhelmed by vanilla, and didn't taste much else when I tried it straight.

Mixed well with sodas, but the alcohol will still be there. Be careful.

Au final un gout qui peut intéresser mais un sentiment de "trop artificiel" pour ce Kraken.
