Kraken Black Spiced

This rum tastes much like alcohol. Anyway, its the right choice with a coke. My rating is 4 + 1 for design.

A strong dark rum, not suited to most.
As with all rums I don't mix.
Therefore I believe this is best served as a winter drink and is certainly good when your feeling run down.Certainly worthy of the name 'KRAKEN'

Read a lot of reviews that absolutely rave about Kraken so I decided to give it a go, Sainsbury's £20, reduced from £23.
Love the colour and the nose is certainly different, but I'm not convinced about the taste. It's not the smoothest, but certainly not harsh, a glowing burn and strong aftertaste.
Tried it neat first, ok, but not really a sipper in my opinion.
Adding 1 ice cube definitely smoothed it out for sipping.
Added coke and was surprised, it makes a great rum and coke.
Not really convinced it will become a fixture in my cabinet, but time might change my mind, along with more tastings.

Well I have finished the bottle and I'm sorry to say that I won't be going out for a re fill. I just don't enjoy this rum and quite frankly can't see why it's so highly rated by so many people.
But hey, each to his/her own tastes.

Now thats my favorite rum for the moment! I love the caramel taste!

This is the rum that will always be somewhere in my liquor cabinet. It is my go to for a mixer with its bold taste and color. It is a great rum for just about anything, definite must have for a mixer, and not bad straight or on the rocks. In all, if I could only have one rum in my cabinet that had to do it all, this would be the one.

For me this was very simple rum of one taste, nothing to enjoy, I got enough after 1 glass, no tastes to explore, even though the one that was there is pleasant, it just does not do as a sipper.
