Great price for this young rum. El Dorado has been recently become one of my favorite rums being it the 8 , 12 or 15 years old. All different but all very good.
N- Cedar, banana leaf, raisin with lifting toasts nuance, caramel whirling on with some feint in the form of floral, herbal liqueur and botanical. Get nutty, rubbery as it breath with velvet creaminess. (86/20)
P- Much the same as the aroma, crisp, more sour fruits, citrus peel emerged with fullness even at diluted strength. This stuff could be amazing at cask strength. (86/20)
F- Medium-long, dry, clean, highly sippable with lingering citrus, well nurtured by fine oak, earthy and pleasant. (87/21)
B/B- 86/20
Weighted Rate - 81pt

Pour le prix, il est excellent à boire seul ou avec une glace.
This is one of the best "cheap" rums around, smooth with some heat, nice colour and smell, well worth having on the shelf...
This is solid stuff, perfect for mixing and making exceptional cocktails. In some ways it's actually better than the 12, less added sugar, more complex. Unfortunately it's just way too expensive in Australia.
I have not found any figures on added sugar for this one, I suspect there is some though minimal compared to its older brethren. This has become my favorite in the lineup.
Edit : This one has around 15 grams/ltr of added sugar, which is a fair amount but only 1/3 as much as the 12 yr and half as much as the 15 - neither of which will I buy any more. Why should I when I could pay $15 for this and add some sugar, resulting in pretty much the same flavor profile?
Smooth with a bit of a spicy bite. One of my favourite taste. My wife doesn't prefer rum, but she likes this.
($33CAD) Finally got around to getting some younger El Dorados. Wanted to give it a shot because I seem to love everything I’ve had from ED so far.
On the nose, it’s that sweet Demerara sugar scent that is present in the 12,15,21. I’ve missed that smell!
On the tongue it’s much like the 12, though a lot less sweet. It’s got a bit more bite than I thought it would, and a bit less going on in the way of finish. There’s flavours of vanilla, some oak, molasses maybe even some cinnamon.
Comparing side by side with the 12, it is extremely hard to tell the difference. The 12 has a bit more pepper and spice whereas the 8 had more vanilla and fruits.
It’s floral, there are notes of dark chocolate and dried fruits.
"It isn’t rough but it does have quite a spicy burn and finish. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This one is great. Allmost good as 12 years old but much more cheaper. Good competition to Appleton Estate 8 years old.
