Angostura 1824 rum is a blend of rums aged for at least 12 years in oak barrels. The aged rums are blended, re-casked, and upon maturity hand-drawn for bottling.
This rum is named and crafted in honor of Dr. Johann Siegart's founding of Angostura house in the city of Angostura, Venezueala in 1824. Angostura 1824 rum production is now based in Trinidad.
This Rum is really good, much better then Angostura 1919 in my opinion. it is a little bit dry in the finnish that feels a little bit strang. A must have for all Rum lovers!
it smells very nice and unique but I dotn like this hard medicinal taste. One of most interesting smells of flowers and red wood. In throat it is quite smooth but very bittery in therm of flavour. Some whiskey lovers can find it as very interesting.
I guess by how much I was impressed by the 1919, I expected more from this one. Don't get me wrong though; I do enjoy this one, but I have to be in the mood for it.
A little dryer and oakyer then the 1919. More spice and burn on the finish as well.
I Recommended this to anyone who likes dry rums
Lovely bottle, lovely color. Tastes of thick molasses with a dominant herb like flavor of tobacco. Different to a lot of other rums.

Looks far richer and gives the impression of much more developed flavors that 1919, but only tastes slightly richer. A disappointment.
Sa dénomination et la forme de sa bouteille, forcent la comparaison avec son petit frère 1919. Celui-ci est "plus" !
Sa couleur acajou est plus jolie. Son nez est plus parfumé. Ses aromes sont plus complexe. Un peu plus sec que le 1919, il semble plus puissant, il s'accroche en bouche en garde une belle longueur.
La puissance est maitrisée et on garde bien toutes les saveurs de fruits, d'épices, et surtout de vanille.

J'ai goûté en premier le 1919, qui est bcp plus sucré. Le 1824 s'avère surprenant au départ, mais révèle un final fantastique. Incomparable, il restera un pilier de mon bar.
This is almost like a fine cognac. It literally tastes like the Caribbean air. Sweet and floral, with vanilla and nutmeg hints. Truly amazing.
I always go for the finall net experience and this rum leaves an unimprovable one. Regardless of how, the depth and strength of the flavor(s) achieved by rum are amazing. The vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate, and dry fruit notes are so clear and intense you can almost chew it as you drink it. Excellent as a sipper or with mineral water and lime. It always makes you want to have one more.
As I find my palate maturing and going away from the western carib and america's sweeter styles I really enjoy the 1824 dryer, complex, lovely taste and nose.
A smooth rum with little burn as it goes down. Nice vanilla notes - this is one to share with serious rum drinkers for them to discuss how good it is.
This is a spectacular rum. It's not cheap and not for the beginner. It's a complex rum. It's not too dry but not especially sweet. Very smooth with primary tastes of molasses, rum, enough oak to detect and a hint of spice. Tobacco hints are there too. I'm sure others wild discern other flavors I may have left out. Absolutely smooth enough to drink on its own but best on the rocks. I think the scent doesn't give you a heads up how good the drink is about to be.
Beautiful packaging and a bottle the could pass as a decanter.
If you really appreciate get rums and the money isn't a problem, treat yourself!
First taste was a bit HARSH, but then it mellowed out very nice. Molasses and vanilla flavors are present, but it has a predominant oak barrel to it.... Very complex...
