Bacardi Superior rum

Bacardi Superior

United States | Light | 40% ABV

Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.

A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

I have a handle of this sitting on my cabinet It's a last resort mixer for whoever wants some. Can't say I haven't drank my share of it in my day and would still have a Bacardi n coke in a pinch cuz it's often the only rum available at a bar.

This rum it doesn't taste like rum. Is more like a vodka. I don't like it.

And I don't mean that in the "dark horse in a tasting contest" sense. It's a step above the 'only sold in plastic bottles' rum brands, and it's inoffensive as a mixer, but it has nothing to stand on in and of itself. I'd take this before Captain Morgan, but there's a LOT of other rums I'd take before this.

Tasting notes: ethanol and vague sweetness on the nose. Immediate buttery and sugary note on the palate, but no evolution beyond that, and soon it just fades to an ethanol burn. Very one-dimensional.

This is just a basic, sweet white rum. Not much more to say.

I have been drinking this rum since high school , 42 years ago. We would get a slurpee from 7/11 dump a third out and fill with rum. Since starting these taste tests you realize why this is a rum used with mixers. I still drink my rum and Pepsi. We will see if I can find another mixer rum.

This rum is used for mixing in recipes at your favorite dive bar. Its solid for its use.

This is the bottom of the popular rums, but it can be good as a base for strong infused drink. Still often better base for infusions than vodka.

My mum has a bottle of this in the cupboard, I’m pretty sure she uses it for cooking. I think this rum should be used for cooking and not much more than that as it is drinkable but just barely. It doesn’t have any enjoyable flavour, if it is all you have and you’re headed to a party you might as well bring it because it is still alcohol, but no one will be impressed.
