Barcelo Imperial

A classy rum for the price that has a dry flavour. Subtle flavours but not as much depth as other more flavoursome rums ... Makes a posh rum and coke but lovely as it is .. much nicer on the rocks

I have to give this one an overall rating of 7, but it is an 8 if you factor in price. Got a bottle at Specs for on sale $22. The color is a little light but it has good legs. Not as much flavor as the rums I rate 8 and 9. No after burn. Over all its worth a try especially for $22.

Nicest aroma and smell.smells after barrel and dáte. Taste is sharp but good enough to a tongue.

A bit too dry and lacking body; the alcool heat a bit too much to my liking

Buena opción si se considera su precio. Dorado oscuro, sabor y aroma intensos. Recomendable para noche de amigos.

Tasty but not quite great yet. It is not too sweet which is pleasant but overall I feel as some body would be good to complete the taste as the aftertaste is a bit flat.

La presentación del empaque y la botella inmejorables, fue lo que me llevó a comprarla, sin embargo esperaba mas del ron. Aroma suave y sencillo, poco cuerpo, le falta carácter.

Solid sipper with smokey afterburn. Similar to Diplomatico Anejo. Funny sugar granules in bottle. Kind of the hint;)

Deze Barcelo Imperial rum ondergaat een rijpingsproces van gemiddeld 10 jaar in gloednieuwe, wit, eikenhouten vaten. Deze vorm van rijping is de handtekening van Barcelo die men op haar producten zet, een unieke stijl die zijn mannetje staat tussen te concurrentie.

De rum heeft een vol en rijk karakter die omringd wordt door zalige aroma’s van onder andere kaneel, sinaasappel, appel en dadels. Er is een milde rokerigheid te bespeuren met hints van nieuw leer, een combinatie die een voorproefje geeft van de intrigerende complexiteit van deze rum. De smaak zelf is zeer glad, en tevens zeer uitgebalanceerd, met tonen van toffee, cacao en vleugjes peper.

Geschiedenis
Ron Barceló is ontstaan door Julian Barceló, een Spaanse emigrant geboren in Mallorca. Hij begon het bedrijf in 1930 onder de naam Barceló & Co in Santo Domingo in de Dominicaanse Repubiek. Het duurde niet lang voor dat het Barcelo merk belangrijk werd tussen de lokale rum merken en uiteindelijk moest opboksen tegen de grootste en meest prestigieuze Dominicaanse bedrijven. Gedurende de jaren ’80 werd de Ron Barceló rum de bekendste rum in de Dominicaanse republiek. De export groeide en het bedrijf begon buiten de Cariben te distribueren, in 1994 werd Ron Barceló geëxporteerd naar ruim 10 landen, met Spanje als grootste afnemer.
