This brings me back to the time when I was in the DR. I was able to get a few bottles for 11.99 each. This is an OK rum not quite a good as Brugal Anejo but much cheaper. A mixer mainly as it is very one sided and fiery. A 6 overall for me. A cola drinker but bearable neat if none.

I compared this one with it's big brother Barcelo Imperial, and I definitely prefer this one! It hasn't the strong tobacco flavour of the Imperial and is smoother. A hit to me!

A good rum to sip or to mix. Dominican rums are a favorite of mine.

For the usual price of around $15, this is a tough rum to beat. ( I picked up several for a closeout price of $10 at which it is a steal.)
A nice subtly smokey flavor with nice balance of wood and spices.

I think that this would mix well with just about anything but I can't say that it's a sipping rum. Not something that I would buy again unless I was planning to make mixed drinks, then maybe.
