Takamaka St Andre 8-Year

Minimal everything on this one. Nose is muted and the taste is more alcohol than flavor, even at 40% ABV.

We managed to find this in a tiny corner stone near the south of the main island. The producer confirmed that they do not prepare this type of rum anymore. It’s a lot more characteristic than the other variants.

Maybe it's my early career in rum tasting that is the problem here, but this I only found OK. I did not enjoy the taste, even though the obvious burned sugar and caramel comes through. Taste is decent, but underwhelming and ethanoly.

Tried this as part of the Rum Ratings tasting kit.

Dry flavor. Smells and tastes of oak, grass, and maybe cinnamon spice. A rather ordinary rum for the price to me.

Sweet, soft and easy summarizes this rum. A lovely rum!
